HOWARD PUBLIC LIBRARY
The library was organized at a meeting held on February 3rd, 1911. The first library opened on February 18th, 1911 in the office of Dr. I.L. Goff. In 1938, the town assumed responsibility and the Howard Public Library was established in the former milk plant (where the Historical Society Museum is now). It has been in its current location, on the first floor of the Masonic Building since 1977. The library offers books, movies and audio materials for loan. Computers with internet access are available for use. There are also serveral public interest programs presented including craft classes, movie screenings and story hours.
The Board of Directors include Burton Weldy (President), Barbara Cleeves (Secretary), Varo Whitmer and Margie Rixford. The manager of the library is Lorraine Nelson.
